Piggly Wiggly Shopping – Double couponing
Did my minimal grocery shopping this weekend, just to stock up on the weekly needed items and try not to overspend! Trying to keep myself on a strict $40 for food this week and I came in right under!
Here’s what I got:
1 Bottle 40ct Advil Liqui Gels – 6.99 (Used $1/1 coupon – doubled to $2) = $4.99
4lb bananas - $2.46
Butternut bread - $2.25
4 Buddig Chicken on sale for 3/$2 (used $1/4 coupon doubled to $2) = .67/4
3 Capri Sun on sale $1.99 (Used $1/3 coupon doubled to $2) = $3.97/3
1 bag mini carrots – on sale .89
3 12 pk coke – on sale 3/$8.99
2 Crystal Farms shred cheese pouches – on sale $1.49 ea
2 bags lays chips – On sale $1.79 (limit 2)
1 OM bologna – on sale $1.99
1 hamburger buns – on sale .79
1 hot dog buns – on sale .79
1 pkg. strawberries – on sale $1.99
Total spent after coupons: $37.84
Total saved $26.27
I could have probably saved more if I have gone to my local Mexican market for fruit or Wal-Mart with price matching, but neither of those double coupons (and I don’t care for Walmarts produce). We don’t have a decent major grocery store other than Jewel around me (who is super expensive), I usually travel up into southeastern WI for Woodmans but that’s a good 30 min away and I am not going to drive that for only a few things. To shop here it is literally right down the road, they are more expensive but have really good sales most of the time and at times I can match my coupons to a great sale price or for free items with their doubling of coupons. The downfall is they are about half the size of a normal grocery store and don’t care as much of a selection.

Still under goal is always a good trip!!! It always seems crazy when you go back and think how much that would cost without sales and coupons. It makes me cringe to think that I went out and spent over $100 at the grocery store and barely came home with the same amount. If you are feeling bad some day, get behind someone with a full cart and listen in to see what their total is because it will make you grateful for your total :)
